Windsurfing: St Combs, Fraserburgh Wind Direction: N Wind Stength: 15-20mph Surf / Sea State: Flat, small wave Air Temperature: Warm Sea Temperature: Warm Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Wind forecast not good for the weekend, so took a day off work as the wind
was looking OK, and Dan said he would show me some of the windsurf spots
around Fraserburgh. We decided on St Combs, as the wind direction would be
about right. He'd been up there the day before with 30 knot winds and 12
foot waves and was pretty knackered, so a relatively easy day as forecast
was on the cards - this suited me just fine! Was nicely powered up most of
the time on my 6.3 and big board for around 4 hours, and it was a lovely
spot. Dan was on slightly smaller kit and a little underpowered most of the
time, but enjoyed the session non the less. It was pretty flat, but out
beyond the point, there were some reasonable 4 or 5 foot swells, with some
of them ramping up enough for some jump attempts if you were going fast
enough. Dan crashed a few forward attempts, but came up smiling, whereas I
just went for basic jumps. The waves were not really suited to riding on
this particular day as they never really formed up properly on the reef and
just kind of petered out. Definately go up there again though when the
conditions look good.
